Last weekend Danny & I were in the OC for Nikki & Ben's wedding.
Friday-Rehearsal at Ole Hanson Beach Club
Got the stink eye from Nikki for talking too much during the rehearsal. Stacy's fault. Afterwards, Ben's parents hosted a wonderful rehearsal dinner at the Beach house in the harbor. Met some wonderful new people (little Joe) and visited with some I haven't seen in years. Took the bride and a bunch of friends (new and old) to Turk's for a night cap. Fully intended to just have one drink to toast the couple before their big day-not gulp down two bourbons and a beer.
Saturday-the big day
Woke up with a hangover. Good one, H. Thank god Nikki was feeling well.
The ceremony was beautiful and the party afterwards was the best I've ever been to. Feasted on halibut (spinach risotto for Danny), drank gin and tonics (beer for Danny), and danced to standards and classic rock. Mom succesfully embarassed me by asking Nikki's godfather (an ex lounge singer who was back on the microphone for the night) to autograph her arm. Could have been worse, could have been her boob...or her underwear on stage (Dad's suggestion). The night came to an end around 10 PM. I can now relinquish my duties as maid of honor.
Sunday-Brunch at the Parent's of the Bride House
Amazingly tasty food cooked by Liz's friends. Said goodbyes before everyone headed of to different parts for the country. Danny and I had just enough time to take a long walk on the beach before catching the plain back to the PHX.
